Are you passionate about the wellbeing of children and young people? Do you love working with children and young people? Have some safeguarding experience and great people skills? Want to make a difference? This might be the role for you!

This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established, Devon based charity in its mission to prevent child abuse. We are recruiting a Team Leader to lead the delivery of the CAP UK programme in the Exeter area and manage our team of facilitators working in Primary schools.

The Team Leader’s role:-
As part of a team of 3 facilitators the Exeter Area Team Leader is directly involved in delivering our fun, empowering abuse prevention children’s workshops in primary schools across the Exeter area. The Team Leader manages all aspects of delivery including any safeguarding concerns that arise during our school visits, working closely with the Designated Safeguarding Leads in the school.

In addition, the Team Leader runs our parent and staff workshops as part of CAP UK’s whole community approach.

As a part time role of 26 hours per week (term time only), a significant proportion of these hours are taken up in the actual delivery of the CAP programme. Each week, any remaining hours are used for booking new schools; preparation and planning the scheduled work and managing the 2 Exeter Team CAP facilitators. When possible, the Exeter team Leader will also network with relevant agencies to raise awareness of CAP across Exeter area.

All the work takes place in term time but does often involve early starts and occasional evening work. CAP children’s workshops usually run-on Mondays,Tuesdays and Wednesdays but we also hold team meetings on Thursday mornings once a month and adult workshops are often held on this day too. The Team Leader will work in schools, attend occasional training/meetings at the Totnes office and will be expected to do some work from home.

Awareness and understanding of child abuse is essential, as is the ability to work confidentially with both adults and children. Knowledge of Exeter primary schools is advantageous and previous experience of workshop/classroom delivery is important. It is vital that candidates respect children and believe in their empowerment.

There is an amount of travel in this role as the team visit different schools each week and a mileage allowance is paid. A driver with own transport is essential for this role.
