Do you enjoy working with children and want to help keep them safe from abuse? Then this might be the job for you. CAP UK is a charity that aims to keep children Safe, Strong and Free.
Based on a international programme, CAP has been running in the South West for 23 years. Our approach is to work with the whole school community by running workshops for parents, school staff and with children in whole class groups.
We are looking for a Children’s Workshop Facilitator to join our Exeter team. CAP UK has received funding from the Big Lottery to increase our work in this city and surrounding area. The role of Exeter Workshop Facilitator is a part time position for 350 hours in the classroom, with additional hours for training and attending whole team meetings.
Massive congratulations and thanks to Rachel Roberts who ran the London Marathon this weekend raising over £4000 for CAP UK in the process. Cheered on by family, friends and the millions of supporters lining the route, despite record breaking hot weather, Rachel finished in an incredible time of 3:57:51. Outstanding!
Describing what it’s like to take part in perhaps the world’s greatest marathon Rachel and mum Sacha explained how London just “opens up and people connect with each other… It’s all about charity and the vulnerability of all humanity is on display.”
If you’d like an opportunity to run the London Marathon to raise funds for us, get in touch to register your interest in a future CAP UK charity place. It’s an experience of a lifetime.

Looking back over the last academic year we are really pleased with CAP UK’s development.
The Big Lottery funding that we received back in September 2015 has allowed us to build our teams and reach so many more school communities with our important training.
During academic year 2016-17 CAP has worked with 62 schools in the South West.
11, 979 children attended our empowering workshops and 863 adults were trained by our teams to understand how to prevent child abuse.
Year 6 Child- June 2017- “I learnt that being safe is more important than you think.”
A parent found CAP training gave them: “ more of an understanding how to talk to my son about this difficult subject.”
Here at CAP UK, we are so proud to be building safer communities across the South West- helping children to grow up to be Safe Strong and Free!
We have an exciting opportunity to for someone to join our Devon team delivering children’s workshops in primary schools. If you have a sense of fun and believe in the empowerment of children this might be the job for you!

Thank you so much to the Devon Association of Primary School Head teachers for nominating CAP as their charity of the year at their annual conference in Saunton Sands- North Devon on 13th October 2016.
Everyone at CAP was amazed at the £1020.00 that was raised for our work at the event. This money will be put directly towards reaching more children with our important messages!
As we begin a new school year, CAP is continuing with our exciting expansion plans. The established South Devon and Plymouth teams are already busy working in schools delivering workshops to children, teaching our Safe Strong Free messages.
CAP’s focus this year will be on continuing the good work in these areas but also on establishing a new team in the Exeter area. We are presently advertising for 2 new facilitators to join our Exeter Team leader in delivering workshops to primary schools in the city and surrounding area.
For more information about the Exeter Facilitator posts and an application form please contact the CAP office. The closing date for this position is 6th October 2016. We look forward to hearing from you!
Everyone here at CAP is really pleased to be expanding our work into new areas and to be reaching even more children with our important messages!
This is an exciting time for CAP UK. Our recent award from the Big Lottery will see us expand over the next 5 years. We have a small, dedicated trustee board but we need more to help us grow our charity.
We meet in the evening every 6- 8 weeks at our head office in Totnes, to discuss business and make decisions. We also hold an AGM once a year.
You can also get involved in project groups who take on particular tasks that need doing such as business planning or staff contracts.
If you are interested in helping our work and would like to join our board, contact Kate Shillaker, CEO on 01803 866559 or firstname.lastname@example.org for an informal chat.
Please do get involved. Help us make a difference and keep children safe, strong and free!
